You will have been given a time for our visit but as you will appreciate, if an unforeseen problem is encountered at a previous job then there may well be some delay. It doesn’t happen very often but we ask you to be patient. Traffic, roadworks and unforeseen blockages encountered when sweeping all play havoc with even the best time keepers. If we are running late we will call you and advise you of our revised arrival time.
Before we enter the premises, please remove any items that may be on the mantle piece or the surrounding areas and make sure the area in front of the fire is clear as well.
Also please ensure that the fire is out. It may seem obvious but some clients seem to think we can work around the flames! We are good, but not that good.
A dust sheet will be laid in front of the hearth and a soot restrictive cowl will be used to seal the fire opening.
Depending on the type of appliance a selection of brushes will be used in conjunction with a triple filter vacuum to remove harmful particles. The hoover is rated to safely suck up Asbestos with nothing getting through the filters. The only thing you will have is a slight sooty aroma which won't linger.
Back to topAfter Sweeping is completed
On completion, all hazardous waste will be removed, a smoke test carried out and if the chimney is safe to use a Certificate will be issued for insurance purposes.
If safety is an issue you will be made aware of this fact at the time. We value your custom and we put your safety at the top of our list of priorities.
A clean chimney is a safe chimney, but there is always the need for vigilance in order to spot potential dangers, be they structural or environmental hazards.
We want you to be confident that we have done everything in our power to ensure your safety is not compromised.
The Certificate carries a serial number, your name and address, the type of fire/s and location/s as well as any relevant comments concerning the flue, safety or frequency of cleaning.
I will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your appliance, the correct type of fuel and any potential problems.
